Dr. Sara Konrath is a social psychologist and Director of the Interdisciplinary Program on Empathy and Altruism Research (iPEARlab.org). Her research investigates the development, benefits, and promotion of empathy, altruism, and emotional intelligence. She has documented generational trends in empathy and narcissism, and demonstrated how empathy and generous behavior is linked to well-being and health. Dr. Konrath has also designed innovative digital tools to increase empathy and giving, and has partnered with educators, physicians, dating apps, museums, zoos, foundations, and other nonprofits to develop and evaluate empathy interventions. She is a co-organizer of the annual Science of Philanthropy Initiative conference, and has served as an editor for top journals in both psychology and nonprofit studies. She has been a speaker at SouthXSouthwest and the Aspen Ideas Institute, and her work is regularly featured in top media outlets including The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time, The Atlantic, NPR, BBC, and CBC.
