BIO

Dr. Robinson’s primary research interests are the motivations and lived experiences of African Americans living abroad. There has never been a comprehensive study of African Americans residing abroad globally (not just in one country or region), because of numerous methodological and financial challenges. While working to solve these problems, Robinson serves as Co-Investigator and Project Director of the National Survey of American Life: A 25-Year Follow-Up, and Principal Investigator of the study on Black History Month Programming in Public Libraries. The latter project is conducted in partnership with the Black Caucus of the American Library Association (BCALA), the Public Library Association (PLA), and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH). Robinson is the Faculty Administrative Coordinator of the Michigan Center for Urban African American Aging Research (MCUAAAR). Dr. Robinson has extensive experience working with grassroots community groups, academic institutions, non-governmental organizations, churches, labor unions, government agencies, and, most recently, public libraries. She has lived, worked in, or traveled to 76 countries to date.
