Research focuses on cognitive and communicative processes in human judgment and their implications for substantive and methodological issues of social science research. Of particular interest are (a) the constructive nature of mental representations; (b) the impact of conversational processes on the use and disuse of information; and (c) the role of feelings (moods, emotions, and cognitive experiences, such as ease of recall, feelings of familiarity, and so on) in social judgment. These basic judgmental processes are investigated in the context of (d) subjective assessments of well-being and social change; (e) the emergence of context effects in attitude measurement and decision making, with particular interest in (f) age- and culture-related differences in the underlying processes.
