Brigget's current research focuses on psychiatric risk factors among African-Americans, including the study of psychiatric diagnosis and mental health treatment effectiveness. Her research interests also include examining the influence that exposure to violence and trauma has upon the mental health of African-Americans. Currently she is involved in the analysis of data from the Detroit Psychiatric Institute Race and Diagnosis Study and the Ypsilanti Area Cognitive Interview Study. She is also involved in a clinical validation study which focuses on diagnostic comparisons between the Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-IV (SCID) and Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI).
