As a first year doctoral student, Mary is broadly interested in researching the self-motivated processes that lead to sustainable increases in well-being. More defined, she is interested in exploring the intrapersonal and interpersonal consequences of compassionate and self-image goals on cognition and affect. She is currently working on several projects exploring the benefits of compassionate reflection, non-zero-sum beliefs, and prosocial emotion. Her research adopts a multi-method approach that uses a variety of methodologies, such as laboratory experiments, web-based surveys, daily reports, and physiological measurements.
